EM&I has been requested by one of the world’s largest owners and operators of FPSOs to investigate their newest country of operations in Senegal. The aim of this visit was to support them with their new operation which, in Q4 2023, will become the first hydrocarbon producer in the country.

In April 2023, EM&I’s African Regional Development Manager set-out to visit the country to meet with existing and new clients as well as indigenous potential partners to research the opportunities and risks of performing future business in-country.

The companies visited were extremely impressed by EM&I’s extensive deep-water floating production experience and high technology offerings, especially with regards to sub-sea inspections and maintenance/repair options and considered EM&I, with our high understanding and experience of West Africa, to be well positioned to assist Senegal with their fledgling industry.

Senegal is planning to grow in stature within the West African energy producing nations and will add more production to their portfolio in the coming years, their 50% ownership of the oil and gas reserves straddling the Mauritanian sea-border make the country an ideal location for further EM&I expansion.

The conclusion is that Senegal is a friendly and accommodating country, and that the Senegalese are extremely friendly and keen to attract foreign partnerships to facilitate the support of their upcoming oil and gas production and are in need of experienced foreign companies such as EM&I to assist them with localisation of asset integrity skill sets leading to greater Senegalese self-sufficiency.
