“No drydock” for FSRUs
May 10th, 2024

With media announcements that the FSRU Independence will be taken off station in Lithuania, and towed to dry dock in Denmark for essential maintenance, EM&I is developing a Marketing campaign to spread the word of more cost-effective, proven alternatives. By leveraging innovative techniques developed through the HITS JIP, EM&I aims to eliminate the need for drydock inspections and maintenance for FSRUs.
Traditional drydock requirements disrupt FSRU operations and incur significant costs. EM&I’s solution utilises diverless survey methods and remote inspection technologies to enable FSRUs to remain on station, fulfilling energy requirements without interruption.
“This proposal will revolutionise FSRU operations, ensuring continuous energy supply while minimising costs and human intervention,” states Danny Constantinis, Executive Chairman & CEO.
This initiative represents a significant leap forward in offshore energy logistics, promising a more sustainable and efficient future for the FSRU sector.
