JAWS 1 & JAWS 2 Trials in Africa
October 18th, 2024

EM&I and its partner Stark Energy are working with a Ghanaian major oil company to carry out trials on JAWS 1 & JAWS 2. The trials will take place at EM&I’s R&D facilities in Cape Town, South Africa. The primary focus of these trials is to demonstrate how sacrificial anode replacements can be achieved diverlessly. The development team is also addressing issues of replacing ICCP (Impressed Current Cathodic Protection) anodes to improve their reliability.
This innovative technology eliminates the need for divers by enabling the replacement of sacrificial anodes using ROVs and specialised proprietary tools. The new approach will complement EM&I’s existing ODIN® service. A major benefit of ODIN technology is improved safety, efficiency, and cost for underwater maintenance.
