JAWS – Diverless Anode Replacement System
The Challenge of Sacrificial Anode Replacement
Replacing external sacrificial anodes on offshore assets requires the use of divers, or in the case of internal tanks, scaffolding, mechanical handling and working at heights.
These operations are costly, and create safety risks, operational downtime, high POB and dependency on metocean conditions.
There is a need for a safer, faster, more cost-effective, low POB method to perform this essential maintenance activity without interrupting operations or incurring downtime.

The Solution: JAWS
For externally fitted anodes, JAWS solves the problem while the vessel is on-station and in-service, eliminating the need for divers, working in confined spaces and at height.
JAWS reduces POB requirements (a 3-man installation team).
JAWS anodes are versatile; attaching to the old anode, the nearby structure or magnetically.
JAWS anodes are custom designed to your specific application, with guaranteed life and performance, each unit stringently tested and class accepted.
EM&I continues to work closely with key industry partners to ensure JAWS meets class and regulatory expectations as the most efficient anode replacement method in the industry.
The Benefits of JAWS
- Diverless operation: Safer and with low POB
- Minimal operational disruption: Maximum uptime for drilling assets, minimun POD for production units.
- Reduced operational cost: Faster deployment with minimal support vessel requirements.
Is it Proven?
Yes! JAWS has been successfully trialled, proving its capability to replace even the most challenging drillship thruster anodes without the use of divers or work-class ROVs.
