HITS

EM&I is leading a joint industry project named HITS as it focuses on Hull Inspection Techniques and Strategies.

HITS initial meeting took place in Monaco and then was formally launched in Houston at the FPSO Research forum in October. It has been widely supported by Operators, Regulators, Classification Societies and Service Providers and is well on the way to being a significant contributor to improved Asset Integrity to the Floating Production industry.

A key meeting occurred in May of this year at the FPSO Research Forum, which took place in Holland, and was attended by representatives from BP, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, SBM, WGIM, HSE, ABS, LR, BV, Marin, Jotun Paints and Hyundai Heavy Industry.

Danny Constantinis CEO of EM&I was appointed Chairman pro tem and commenting on the HITS forum said;

“There are a number of matters of concern that affect all parts of the industry and setting up this international initiative enables all parties to debate the issues and arrive at solutions that will improve the way the industry manages the integrity of marine structures such as FPSO’s. I am pleased we have had so much interest and we are already seeing the benefits of this JIP.”
